WORKCOVER MATTERS

We are amending the way we bill Workcover from January 1st, 2024.

We would like to advise that all Workcover claims will be managed by patients in the New Year

This means that our valued patients will pay for Workcover related services at the completion of the service and be reimbursed by their insurance provider.

ALL ABOUT SKIN

We are excited to be starting dedicated Skin Clinics this year- if you are interested please book in for the Skin Clinic this month.

Skin checks allow healthcare professionals to identify suspicious moles, lesions, or abnormalities that might indicate the presence of skin cancer. Early detection enables timely treatment, significantly increasing the chances of successful outcomes and reducing the need for invasive interventions.

If you have any new spots, changes in your skin or overall concerns, we recommend you get it checked to be safe.

From March 1st, 2024 we will only be able to offer Telehealth consults to patients who have registered with our practice on the My Medicare scheme.

Please follow directions on how to register below:

MyMedicare is centred around a new voluntary patient registration (VPR) system that will be linked to extra Medicare benefits for you. Changes will be introduced in stages, and VPR is the first step. Patients who have a Medicare or DVA card can register with their usual General Practice from 1st October 2023.

What is My Medicare and the Voluntary Patient Registration?

You can register your preferred General Practice with MyMedicare through one of the following methods:

1. The MyGov website https://login.my.gov.au/las/mygov-login or
2. Using the Medicare Express Plus App on your mobile device.
3. Through a paper form found here or at reception.

When you have your myGov account linked to Medicare, you can download and use the Medicare Express Plus app to register with our practice through My Medicare.

Why should I register through My Medicare?

By registering through MyMedicare with the practice of your choice, you as a valued patient will allow the practice of choice to access a range of benefits, including:

- longer MBS-funded telephone consultations
- potential for bulk billed consultations, and
- tailored care for complex chronic diseases, such as care plans in the future.

Please let us know if you REGISTER elsewhere so we can transfer your file. Thank you

Wearing a face mask can help protect you, our doctors and those around you.

Face masks stop viruses from spreading through the air. This means you are less likely to catch or spread the virus. You ask that you wear a mask in the practice if you are presenting with any flu-light symptoms. If you have tested positive to COVID-19 we ask you advise reception when booking your appointment and arrange for it to be via telehealth to protect doctors and staff.

States and territories have different rules have eased in relation to the use of masks.

It's a good idea to wear a face mask when:

  • you present with flu-like symptoms and need to attend indoor public spaces including public transport, clinics and hospitals
  • you are unable to physically distance from others
  • you have tested positive, or think you have COVID-19, and are around other people.

Meet Dr Shelley

Dr Pearson will take the place of Dr Marc in Feb 2024 as the registrar rotation takes place. It is sad to see Dr Marc go, but we welcome Shelley in his stead to carry out her third term of GP training.

Prior to this, she received her undergraduate science degree from Sydney University and also worked as a clinical research assistant in diabetes and heart disease research at Westmead Hospital. She has previously worked at St George and Sutherland Hospitals as well as Calvary Rehabilitation hospital.
